DISPOSABLE FETISH

PRIVATE VIEW THURSDAY 18TH 6.30-9PM
THE NUNNERY GALLERY, 183 BOW ROAD LONDON E3
JANUARY 19TH-28TH 12PM-6PM THURSDAY-SUNDAY

The Disposable Fetish is a show of drawings sketches and initial research, aiming at unveiling a layer of the artmaking process rarely seen in the public domain. Attitudes to the sketch may range from them being seen as purely utilitarian or else fetishsized, spontaneous art products. Further, although work presented in contemporary settings may well have a spontaneous and provisional feel to it in its performance or execution, there is often unseen work which may be present in the form of writings and ‘sketches’. This stage of the process is often not shown because of commercial pressures and the desire to present works that are complete either from a physical or conceptual point of view. The show will present examples of the many different routes artists take toinitiate art projects. Our remit of what constitutes a sketch is broad; encompassing traditional drawing mediums as well as digital mediums, including formative moving image or photographic experiments.
