awe of the natural world" There are prominent themes in my work: Nature, Technology, Urban Landscape and Art. Often these are linked by common traits of conflict, convergence and dynamism. Much of the work has particular focus on extremes, such as wild environments or the polluting side effects of discarded technology on the landscape. I consciously choose opposing methods and ideas, utilising both abstract and representational imagery. In doing this I have shaped my own visual language drawing on a multitude of techniques. The work makes bold statements and embraces bright colours as a means with which to express this. |

I have always felt in
great awe
of the natural world. The expression of this holds a child-like quality
and excitement. The changing of the sky, lightening storms, the
crashing waves, woodlands and breathtaking landscapes have all enthused
and influenced me.
There are definite undercurrents of global concern present in what I do but my main motivation is ambivalent feelings about the future in the face of a changing world. Deborah Crofts |
